Rancho Cañada Golf Club is comprised of two 18-hole courses that weaves back and forth across the Carmel River. This estate was once a prized portion of the 4,366 acre California Rancho named, "Cañada de la Segunda." In 1970 the vision of a 36-hole championship facility resting on 270 acres of land, adjacent to the Santa Lucia Mountain, was created. Rancho Cañada Golf Club has hosted more tournaments than any other golf course on the Monterey Peninsula.

The East Course at Rancho Canada was designed by Nick Lombardo and Robert Dean Putnam in 1970. Located in Carmel Valley at the base of the Santa Lucia Mountains this course offers a true river golf experience with all the views and smells you would expect. Players have five different carries over the Carmel River, shaping their shots around stately trees that line the fairways, allowing them to test their composure while enjoying the natural terrain. Featuring a mild-mannered layout, the East Course at Rancho Canada weaves its way through Carmel Valley building in difficulty to the finish. Yearly mini-memberships are available which offer some of the best rates on the Monterey Peninsula and include play at Rancho Canada West and Laguna Seca Golf Ranch.

This facility has two courses and is located at the mouth of the Carmel valley. Last Spring i had a chance to play the East course which is a nice little layout near the Carmel River. There is a mix of wide open and tight holes along with big greens so it is not as challenging as other courses in the area. Over all condition was average for a course that gets a lot of traffic. Recommended to folks that are looking for a solid round of golf with all the smells and sounds accompanied near a river.
