Monterey Peninsula California knows golf. Second to its natural beauty, Monterey is renowned for it's golfing adventures. This Golden State region embodied relaxation as a religion long before the rest of the country caught on. Plush accommodations, on-call masseuses, fine wines in the cellar and extraordinary golf courses became staples for the entire coastal region. With most of the treasures hidden in the local culture like the Holy Grail, the question i pose for you is:
How much of this famous golf region are you experiencing?

I come to the peninsula at least once a year and have played all the big name courses owned by Pebble Beach (Spyglass, Spanish Bay and Pebble) but i have been branching out to other courses in the area and have found some wonderful surprises. Bayonet and Blackhorse are wonderful, challenging layouts, over looking the Monterey Bay. Poppy Hills is set in the Del Monte Forest in Pebble Beach and offer spectacular golf and great deals if you are a NCGA member. Another gem is Pacific Grove Links where the back nine offers panoramic ocean views in a nice little links style layout. It has been worth exploring the other offerings around Monterey.
